Haircut Horror!

1) Yes, I know she is (still) adorable.

2) Yes, I know it will grow.

3) Yes, I know it will be easier for me to take care of.

But I am still sad.  I don’t know how this happened. I took her in to get a little trim to tidy things up a bit. I thought maybe they could undercut it a little to make it turn under at the bottom. How did 5 inches off and full layers happen?!

I can’t see the layers, but what is there looks darling… looks like the bangs are still long enough to sweep over in a clip, so you should be good to go!

Last time I took my girls in I had the opposite problem — asked for 3 inches off Anna’s hair, to hit her shoulders, and it clearly went past that poing with only about 1 inch off. But that inch took so long to do I was completely deflated and had lost all confidence in the person cutting so I just paid and left. I could have done THAT myself. Grrr.

I hope this isn’t unsupportive, but I like the new hair better! I am a sucker for little girls with chin length bobs. I think it draws the eye up to their cute cheeks and eyes. I am in the middle of an internal debate about my 3 year-old’s hair length, since the shorter hair doesn’t allow for a ponytail, which she likes right now. To cut or not to cut?

I love the short hair! I love the yellow flower too! But I understand your frustration. Madison wants me to let her cut her hair short and though I think it would be cute, a lot of fun things can be done with short hair that can’t be done with long.

She is still just as beautiful. I love the yellow flower.

I too am coming to the conclusion that long hair on little girls is overrated. It is such a pain to take care of, especially when they cry and complain every time you brush it. I just got Lily’s hair cut to above shoulder length and am planning to get Brianna’s cut that short soon too (I’m trying to persuade her to get it cut at chin length, but she’s not too keen on it). Give it some time and the new cut might grow (ha-ha) on you.

Also, I’ve never had much success with the undercutting thing, probably because my girls have some curl at the nape of their neck, so the shorter under layer just springs up into a corkscrew rather than a nice flip. Try a couple of headbands if she’ll wear them–they look super cute on short hair.

I’ve not seen her in person, but she and her dad came by the house the other day and when I got home the first thing Janice mentioned was how cute she thought Kate’s haircut is.
