Duncan has inherited Amelia’s love for the grand production. He informed us that we were all invited to “the Silly Show” and then began planning it out. Amelia even received a special invitation to the event–unfortunately, Duncan later had to sacrifice it. (Apparently, the number of pieces of construction paper made available for Silly Show decorations was too low).

When the appointed time for the Silly Show rolled around, bedtime was upon us and Pdad and I were afraid that there wasn’t time for the show. However, the buy-out offer–one additional piece of construction paper for an agreement to postpone–proved unsatisfactory. The Silly Show must go on!, we were told. At the beginning of the show, all the animals hid under the train table. Then they sprang out one at a time and wrestled with Duncan as he spun around the room–laughing, hollering, and being their best and boisterous partner in silliness. He then went to bed tired and happy. The easy happiness of a 4 year old is a thing to admire.
Moral of the story: Pmom, don’t forget that five minutes of attention, a couple pieces of construction paper, a smile and nod are all it takes for Duncan to have a near Disneyland experience. Why withhold it from him?

This is so funny! What a creative guy! I’m glad I found your blog! So fun!
So, did he put up the decorations himself?! They’re pretty far up the wall… wall-scaling by the Dunc-man?
Sharon: Although the decorations were all Duncan’s doing and his idea, he did not put them up himself. That was courtesy of Pdad and another reminder of why having two parents is useful. If poor Dunc-man had only me, chances are he wouldn’t have a Silly Show or at least no decorations. Pdad is teaching me to be a more permissive, fun parent. I have a long way to go. Pdad put up the decorations and had the good idea of using the blue, removable residue-free painter’s tape to hang them so that way they were acceptable to both Duncan and Pmom (and Kate couldn’t reach them, another bonus.)
Jaime: I’m glad you found it too! And just in time for the contest! I spent quite a bit of time reading your blog the other night and really enjoyed it. I think blogs are neat because they give us another way of getting to know people better. Thanks for visiting.
How creative he is! My kids love it when I video their “shows”. It is double the entertainment — they are entertained by putting on the show and then again entertained watching themselves!
