Praying for Mr. Yoon

Yesterday, a military jet crashed into a San Diego home, killing the four occupants inside: a mother, her newborn infant, her one year old daughter, and the babies’ grandmother. The pilot was able to eject safely moments before the crash. He survived. Today the husband of the mother and the the father of the two baby girls spoke to the press. Mr. Yoon explained that he does not blame the pilot for the accident. He believes the pilot did everything he could to avoid it. He spoke of his love for his wife and his children and the struggle he now faces: “I know there are many people who have experienced more terrible things, but, please, tell me how to do it. I don’t know what to do.”

Mr. Yoon, I do not know you and I have never experienced the terrible things you are going through, but I believe you are doing the right things. You asked us to pray for the pilot so that he would not suffer from his role in the accident. I, for one, would also like to pray for you. You don’t know what to do, but your actions have already been a great example to me: To forgive, to remember (the loved ones), and to look to God.

I appreciated this post – I remember watching him on tv and being so sad yet so touched by his desire to forgive and pray for the pilot. What a good man.
